The Seymour family descends from William Saint Maur, mentioned in 1240. Sir Edward Seymour (1500-1552), brother of Jane Seymour, third wife of King Henry VIII of England, was made Viscount Beauchamp on 5-6-1536, Earl of Hertford on 18-10-1537 and Duke of Somerset on 15-2-1546, but was decapitated in 1552 and the family lost these titles. His son Edward regained the title Earl of Hertford in 1558. The grandson of this Edward, William (1587/88-1660) became Marquess of Hertford in 1640 and Duke of Somerset in 1660. His descendants died out in the male line in 1675. And the grandson of this brother became the fifth Duke of Somerset. His line died out in 1750, when a descendant of a younger son of the first Duke succeeded in the title.

Rumor has it that Lord Seymour is divorced from Lady Arlette. (According to an old Google Groups post.)
ReplyDeleteThey are divorced. She has two kids with a UBS banker now. Gold digger galore
ReplyDeleteLady Arlette is not a gold digger. She is living in modest circumstances in London.
